Nanomanipulator puts nanotubes on tips

Abstract:
Scientists at Philips Research Laboratories in the Netherlands have come up with a technique for mounting individual multiwalled carbon nanotubes on support tips that can control the length of the tube. The mounted nanotubes could have applications as electron sources for high-resolution electron beam instruments or probe tips in scanning microscopes.
