Abstract:
Ethylene nanosorbent is a product whose application in fruit and agricultural products storehouses and refrigerators significantly decreases the loss of agricultural products.
Middle-East Bioresearchers Company was established in 2004, aiming to decrease the loss of fruits and vegetable in the country by using novel technologies in the field of agriculture and industry. The most important approach of the company was to increase the efficiency of the production of industrial and agricultural products through decreasing the loss and prevention of waste of financial and energy sources.
Ethylene gas is the simplest herbal hormone that is called aging hormone. This hormone is produced in agricultural products in response to environmental physical and chemical driving agents in various steps of the growth. This gas is known as the most important factor in reducing the durability of agricultural products. If the air is purified and ethylene is eliminated in this stage, no further consequences will happen and the durability of fruits and vegetable will increase.
Middle-East Bioresearchers Company has produced a product under the trademark of Ethylene Nanosorbent® by using porous nanoparticles such as zeolite and sepiolite in the presence of a specific catalyst. The product can be used in all steps after the harvest, including transportation, storage and packaging due to its flexibility in application and very high sorption capacity.
The company claims that application of the nanosorbent decreases the loss about 30-300%. The difference between the minimum and maximum reduction in the loss depends on the physiology of various agricultural products because the amount of ethylene production or sensitivity to ethylene is very different in various products.
Another type of the packaging of this product is nanosorbent sachets at various sizes, which have been designed to be used in the packaging of agricultural products and even home refrigerators.
