Abstract:
In partnership with Smithers Apex, QD Vision, Inc., the leading manufacturer of quantum dot optical components for LCD products, today announced that its Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Seth Coe-Sullivan will chair the Quantum Dots Forum taking place March 26, 2014, at the Paradise Point Hotel in San Diego, California. The full-day event will be the first of its kind, providing technologists, researchers, business development executives and entrepreneurs an opportunity to discuss trends, problems and solutions within the budding quantum dot industry.

"There are millions of quantum dot components already deployed in televisions and tablets, and we expect significant growth from the ground breaking performance offered by quantum dots," said Coe-Sullivan. "This event will address the developments in technologies, market opportunities and challenges, innovations in applications and environmental issues related to the continued successful commercialization of quantum dots."

The Quantum Dots Forum will immediately precede the 12th annual Phosphor Global Summit, which in recent years has included a small number of discussions on QDs as emerging materials. The QD industry has now matured to the point that a dedicated forum is necessary. The forum will feature talks from industry and academia, from small and large companies alike, and will culminate in a panel discussion on the EH&S topics relevant to this rapidly developing field.

About Quantum Dots (QD)

QDs are semiconductor nanocrystals that possess unique light emitting optical properties. The emission wavelength spectrum of QD light can be tuned to create almost any color of the visible spectrum as defined by the CIE 1931 color space. QDs have very narrow light emission properties enabling a wider color gamut, resulting in higher color fidelity and improved backlight performance.
